Most drivers know the importance of regular automotive maintenance to keep the vehicle operating good and safely on the road. While we often think of regular maintenance as tune-ups, tire rotation and oil changes, there is one thing that often is overlooked, and that’s windshield wiper blades.
Despite being such a small part, the windshield wiper blades are very important because they help you see clearly in a rain or snow storm. It may seem like our windshield wipers and blades last forever, but they do eventually need to be replaced. Our team at McGovern Hyundai has some tips on how to know when they should be replaced.
Wiper blades should be replaced about every six months. It’s not fun to realize that they need replacing while you’re trying to drive through a storm. If your visibility is poorer than usual, your blades are probably the culprit. Another sign of bad blades is stripes or missed areas of the windshield. If the blades are making a squeaky or squealing sound, they need replacing.
